CCP – Community Communications Programs
This project offers villagers from around Dessie the opportunity to look into and discuss current issues. If necessary, nurses, doctors, or specialists in agriculture are invited to give advice and support. Nurses Sentayu and Rabiya work at Nigat to offer daily seminars and workshops for adults as well as for children and adolescents. The Community Communications Programs have worked hard to achieve elucidation and social cohesion in regard to stigmatized issues such as female circumcision, HIV/AIDS, contraception, etc. Thanks to CCP, members of the village community may discuss topics with negative implications to health and/or living conditions of the disadvantaged under professional guidance. CCP attempts to fill the gap oftentimes caused by lack of information, education or the possibility to broach taboo issues through the assignment of professional advisors.
