Opening of school in Mafulka
In mid-October 2020, a new school was ceremonially opened in Mafulka, a very remote village in Sierra Leone. The construction took just over a year and was financed by various smaller NGOs, including PfefferminzGreen. The school exemplifies the conviction of Rugiatu and AIM (and of PfefferminzGreen): academic education, especially for girls, is the most important component in the fight against female circumcision, because the social role of girls and women is strengthened in the long run. The school can host approximately 250 students and not only teaches them how to read, write and calculate, but also provides education about human rights and the health consequences of Female Genital Mutilation.
