Rugiatu receives the Theodor Haecker Prize

We are extremely proud of Rugiatu for receiving the Theodor Haecker Prize for Political Courage and Sincerity - International Human Rights Prize of the City of Esslingen am Neckar on October 24, 2020. The prize is awarded once every three years to individuals or groups who have made outstanding contributions to human rights, peace and democracy. In Rugiatu's case, it is to honor her commitment in the fight to abolish Female Genital Mutilation and for her impact regarding the Empowerment of Women in Sierra Leone.

In its press release, the city of Esslingen writes that Rugiatu "is a leading figure in the fight against Female Genital Mutilation in Sierra Leone, representing and promoting women's rights in the political system of the country". We could not agree more and thank Rugiatu from the bottom of our hearts for her great work. It is fantastic to see her successful and sustainable work being increasingly recognized in Germany.
