Bee Project in Tita and Gerado

The idea for this project originated in Gerado, a village near the town of Dessie. 15 unemployed, some affected by HIV/AIDS, some former drug addicts, have found a task that secures them a small but steady income. Together they now care for 35 bee colonies, and share the revenue among themselves. Thanks to the mild climate in Ethiopa, honey may be harvested several times a year. PfefferminzGreen is proud to support this highly efficient project, which shows very good results in terms of ‘revolving funds’. The project is almost self-perpetuating, as the bee colonies expand by themselves, and the regular revenue covers most production costs. Due to the success of the project in Gerado, residents of the village Tita started a similar program.
