MOTHER MARIAM

Mother Mariam School is located in Telawi, a small town in the eastern part of the Georgian Republic. It is the only school within the region that accepts disabled children.

Unfortunately, as yet the school is not properly equipped to enable access for children in wheelchairs to all necessary areas of the school-building. Moreover, most of the children sitting in wheelchairs have no possibility to reach the school from their homes. Thus, the Integrative Schule Frankfurt, which has built up a strong friendship to Mother Mariam School, approached PfefferminzGreen e.V. with the request to find a solution for bringing these children to school (and kindergarden) in the mornings and back to their homes in the afternoons. PfefferminzGreen therefore invested into a disability-friendly van, which has enough room both for the childrenand their wheelchairs. At the end of 2010, thanks to Mr. Andreas Kunze, the bus was transported and handed over to the teachers at Mother Mariam School. Further donations will be used for improving the school’s facilities, in order to help create a disability-friendly environment for Mother Mariam School.
